A great story with some fun twists from the flooding. Also gives fascinating glimpses into how Chicagoans managed decades ago, before flood management and air conditioning. (Keep the piano on the upper floor!) so it was fun in a historical way as well as the main story itself. The volunteer reader was good - note: I tend to approach these free Librivox.org readings as if a friend were reading to me; it’s all good, better, or great.

Interesting story and well narrated by only one reader, which is a relief. Only a few words were too oddly pronounced to understand. Enjoyable and easy to listen to.

A good story with some interesting twists and turns, thought I had figured it out early on and then...... Nicely narrated by Wina Hathaway, you get used to her accent and translate some oddly pronounced words easily enough.
