By: (1866-1946)

In H.G. Wells' "Island of Doctor Moreau," the reader is transported to a mysterious island where scientist Dr. Moreau conducts gruesome experiments on animals, turning them into half-human, half-beast creatures. The novel delves into themes of ethics, morality, and the boundaries of scientific discovery.

Wells' vivid descriptions bring the island to life, creating a sinister atmosphere that keeps the reader on edge throughout the story. The characters are well-developed, with Dr. Moreau standing out as a complex and morally ambiguous figure. The tension between the human characters and the beast-men adds an extra layer of conflict and intrigue to the plot.

Overall, "Island of Doctor Moreau" is a thought-provoking and chilling read that explores the darker side of scientific ambition. Wells' storytelling is engaging and the novel's themes are still relevant today, making it a timeless classic that will haunt readers long after they have finished the final page.

Subject: What were they thinking!
In chapter 16, the narrator sounds like 3 pack a day smoker, and it just ruined that WHOLE chapter for me. The people that work this need to pick better people to read the book.

Subject: Bad readers
Chapter 16 - the woman reading this chapter is ridiculous. She should not read aloud to any one. It ruins the book.

Loved it. Some excellent readers, some not. Short book though. I would recommend this book.

Probably a great book, but I gave up halfway through ch.3 as reader faded away at the end of sentences which was really frustrating.

Great story. Unfortunately, Chapters 16, 17 & 22 are very muffled and garbled. This made it very difficult to follow.
